The Edinburgh International Festival concluded its 2026 programme on 30 August after 146 performances across music, dance, opera and theatre, organisers reported the following day. More than 2,000 artists from 46 countries participated in the 24-day festival.
The programme paired international performances with efforts to widen access. Organisers said more than 50,000 tickets were priced at 30 pounds or less and 3,000 free tickets were issued to young musicians in Scotland. The festival also introduced a Global Ideas Stage and presented an exhibition on the legacy of slavery. These figures come from the organiser's closing report. They show the scale and access priorities of the event without implying that ticket initiatives alone remove every barrier to cultural participation.
